Cheryl, who originally resided in Newfoundland, graduated from Acadia University where she completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology (2001). After graduating from Acadia University, Cheryl went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University in 2004. She received her Diploma of Manipulative Physiotherapy from the Canadian Physiotherapy Association, Orthopedic Division in 2012 and became a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapy (FCAMPT). In 2015 Cheryl obtained her Diploma in Canine Rehabilitation from the Canadian Physiotherapy Association Animal Rehab Division.
Cheryl initially worked in Chester, Nova Scotia at a private practice clinic. She moved to Ontario in 2009 and continued to work at a private practice in Guelph. With years of experience as an orthopedic physiotherapist, Cheryl opened her own physiotherapy clinic in Kitchener, Ontario in 2013. After owning and growing her own clinic for 12 years, Cheryl decided to sell her business and move back to the Annapolis Valley.
Cheryl has continued to complete courses to further her orthopedic and manual therapy skills, including acupuncture, taping, diagnosis and treatment of movement dysfunction, core stability and gait analysis courses. Cheryl's approach to physiotherapy is individualized to her patients. Her assessments focus on identifying the underlying cause and contributing factors of her patient's injury or condition. Cheryl uses a combination of exercise, manual therapy and education in her treatments to improve recovery and help prevent future injury.
In her free time Cheryl enjoys walking her dogs, skiing, running, biking, and travelling the world.
